For parents and grandparents

What exactly is Embervale?

The short answer: a year-long story that arrives by real mail, starring a child you love, with you right beside them.

The longer answer is a story of its own. Settle in.

Begin the story

Three girls at a yellow checked table in Jenni’s art studio, sorting through a spread of Embervale trading cards, with the Heartforge Amulet beside them.

Once upon a time, beyond the next turn in the path…

Month one: Bunnycorn

There is a hidden land called Embervale. It has twelve realms, and no two are alike: Whispering Meadows and the Misty Marsh, Coral Cove and the Cloudpeak Mountains, the Elderwood Library, Rainbow Valley, Starfall Canyon, the Crystal Caverns, Thornwood Hollow, the Sunstone Desert, the Frozen Depths, and the First Flame Peaks.

Each realm is home to a Meldling, a magical creature made from familiar animals in wonderfully unfamiliar combinations. Bunnycorn is part bunny, part unicorn. Pegabear is part Pegasus, part bear. Octopuppy is exactly what it sounds like.

Every realm holds something worth rediscovering: kindness, courage, loyalty, gentle strength, wisdom, growth, creativity, healing, authenticity, truly seeing others, hope, and unity.

Lately, a creeping grey mist called The Forgetting has been closing in. And Embervale needs a Guardian.

That Guardian is your child.

The Heartforge Amulet

It begins with a magical opening gift. Inside waits the empty Heartforge Amulet, The Guardian’s Field Book, and a personalized Call to Adventure.

Traveling beside your Guardian is Fireling, a small dragon sprite with a very big personality and a habit of getting a little too close to open flame. She is their companion and their guide.

And the grown-up who gives the gift? In the story, you become the Elder Guardian, the person who once walked the paths of Embervale and now passes the adventure to a new generation.

Then, every month for a year, another letter arrives with your Guardian’s name on it. Each one opens a new realm, introduces a new Meldling, brings a virtue to life through adventure, and adds another Heart Sigil to the amulet.

In the very first month, your Guardian travels to Whispering Meadows to find Bunnycorn, the gentle Meldling of kindness.

And when the final piece is in place and the amulet is complete, Fireling has a surprise of her own. We would not dream of spoiling it.

The story is make‑believe. The mail is real.

A magical opening gift

The adventure begins with a special delivery: the empty Heartforge Amulet wrapped in burlap and string, a personalized Call to Adventure from the Elder Guardian, The Guardian’s Field Book, and Fireling’s first pieces.

A letter every month

A personalized chapter arrives each month for a year, written at the reading level you choose: Ember for newer independent readers, about ages 7 to 9, or Flame for confident readers, about ages 10 to 13.

Treasures to hold

A new Heart Sigil for the amulet, Meldling and realm trading cards, stickers for The Guardian’s Field Book, a How-to-Draw sheet and coloring pages. Nothing is homework.

Sharing the story

Something for you, too

A monthly email to the Elder Guardian with the chapter they just read, a short recap, and conversation starters, so the next phone call starts with dragons instead of “How was school?”

Where the story is going.

Every adventure needs a destination. Underneath the dragons and the treasure, this is what Embervale is really for.

  1. A child who knows someone believes in them.

Jenni started Embervale because she knows how powerful it is when a child feels that an adult chose something just for them.

“That is what I want every envelope to say: Someone believes in you.”

  2. Something that belongs to the two of you.

A whole world to share, and a reason to call each other with something better to say than “Fine.” The fantasy world is the setting. The relationship is the story.

  3. Values they live, not lectures they sit through.

Kindness, courage, loyalty, hope. Your Guardian will not sit through a lesson. They will live the meaning through the story.

  4. The lost art of looking forward to something.

Looking forward to something is half the joy, and children rarely get to practice it anymore. The waiting gives the next envelope weight.

  5. A world they can keep exploring.

The first twelve realms are only the beginning of Embervale. At least nine years of adventures are already planned, so as long as your child wants to keep exploring, there will be somewhere new to go.

Which journey fits your child?
